Malta

We got in to Malta early, a fascinating port to sail into with forts all around. We walked into the town centre and found the buses and took one to a fishing vilage which was very cute. We bought a Maltese lace tablecloth and caught the bus back to the city in order to catch another bus to the blue grotto and the Hagar Qim,the oldest free standing stone construction in the world (Jim also went to the Mnajdra temple about another kilometre away). A sort of stonehenge type temple built with doorways aligned with the summer and winter solstice in mind.

We did not have time to take a boat ride into the blue grotto but that looked a fun thing to do.
The buses were very old and sounded like they were about to fall apart, originally imported from Britain when they got new ones.
It was a very hot day(31 C) and we were glad to be back on board after walking back and we sat by the pool and liste ned t the poolside entertainers as we sailed out of port at 3.30pm. I went for a swim and then a talk about Picasso and other artists by the art guy. We had dinner with the 3 english people who we have become quite good friends with and the 4 engish people we met last night. We had lobster. We then went to the show which was a sort of broadway production featuring the solstice dancers, singers and acrobats, though they were doing fantastic dance moves.
